Introduction to these letters

THESE eleven letters are the ones written through the year 1994 when I was minister at St. Paul's Parish Church, Bournemouth. It was during this year that our church experienced an arson attack, and this is the reason for the reference in the letter I wrote for July of this year. Later we heard that the fire had been caused by two teenage boys. The fire gutted half of the church complex completely - the worship area, lounge and partitions opening form the worship area, but the extension, the other half of the church complex, though badly damaged, was able to be cleaned up and made usable. The fire happened on a Friday night, and it was wonderful how the congregation rallied around, together with many folk in the parish who were not members, to clean up the extension on the Saturday, so that it was ready for worship on the Sunday.

We continued to worship in the extension for around year, until the fire damage was repaired.

Over 37 years of active ministry I have found God has used this ministry of letter writing in the magazine, and I pray that he will greatly bless this re-publication of these letters through the Internet.
